Frequently Asked Questions - Software

1. Why doesn't the USA C2 Software work correctly in my UK car?

There are many reasons why USA versions of the software will not run correctly on a UK car.

Primarily this is because the regulations relating to vehicle emmisions in different countries are very specific. Ultimatly the ECU has the main control on engine emissions and as a result it is different between regions. The USA models specifically have many emmisions related systems that the UK models do not have.

There are also many physical differences in the cars themselves, for example, the US version of the 12v VR6 has two lambda sensors, whereas the UK cars only have one.

2. What boost can I run on C2 software?

The following table describes the maximum boost and estimated horsepower generated by a 12v VR6 at the wheels given the injector size:

 30lb36lb42lb
Boost (PSI*)121517
wHP**~300~350~400

* 1 bar is 14.7 PSI.

** In the UK, the BHP usually quoted for cars is crank horsepower. To get to an estimate of crank horsepower, multiply the figures in the above table by 1.25 (25%).

3. Does C2 software control my boost?

C2 Software will only control boost if your engine is a factory turbo engine. IF this isnt the case ie. VR6, then C2 software does not control your boost. You will need to take care of this by means of a boost controller.

See the above table for recommended maximum boost levels.

4. Can I run multiple maps?

It is possible to run multiple maps; however it is not necessary as C2's ECU code adapts for every condition, be it different air temperature or changing altitude and pressure. This removes the need for multiple maps.

5. Why don't different weather conditions affect C2 Software?

By utilising the existing sensors on the car, the C2 software establishes exactly what the conditions are before calculating the correct tuning and fuelling for the engine.

Click here for more information about what a MAF sensor is.

6. Can C2 write software for a different set up (different rated FPR, injectors etc)?

Yes. However, as we do not release software that has not been fully tested, if we have not already adapted our software to your exact combination, it may take some time before this software becomes available. If you have a specific requirement, please feel free to contact us.
